Everyone says that AIs are better than humans now and that they will take all of our jobs and kill us all (maybe), so let’s actually test that theory with real money on the line. I’ve funded 4 Fidelity accounts with $100 each. One account for me, one for ChatGPT, one for Claude, and one for Gemini. Let’s see who makes the most money by year end.
Rules:
- Everyone needs to pick 5 different stocks, no ETFs allowed
- You can’t pick stocks that have already been chosen by others
- $20 will be allocated to each stock that is picked, if the stock price is higher than $20, $20 worth of fractional shares of that stock will be bought
The Stock Draft
I used a randomizer to decide the order of everyone’s stock picking. The result is 1. Me 2. Claude 3. Gemini 4. ChatGPT (definitely not rigged)
Round 1:
- Vinson: Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG)
- Claude: NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA)
- Gemini: Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT)
- ChatGPT: Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY)
Round 2:
- Vinson: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (NYSE: TSM)
- Claude: Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN)
- Gemini: Visa (NYSE: V)
- ChatGPT: ASML (NASDAQ: ASML)
Round 3:
- Vinson: Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BERK.B)
- Claude: Meta (NASDAQ: META)
- Gemini: Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO)
- ChatGPT: Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL)
Round 4:
- Vinson: Charles Schwab (NYSE: SCHW)
- Claude: Palantir (NASDAQ: PLTR)
- Gemini: Novo Nordisk (NYSE: NVO)
- ChatGPT: Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST)
Round 5:
- Vinson: American Express (NYSE: AXP)
- Claude: Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN)
- Gemini: Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX)
- ChatGPT: JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM)
Comments:
Vinson:
The two picks I definitely wanted to get in were Google and TSMC so I’m happy that I got those in. For my round 4 pick I wanted Meta or Apple but they got stolen but I’m happy with my backup pick of Charles Schwab since I personally use Schwab too, I just need Fidelity for this challenge because Schwab doesn't allow fractional shares. And for my round 5 pick I was going to go for either Novo Nordisk or Costco but both of them got fucking stolen too, so fuck you Mr. Gemini and Mr. ChatGPT. American Express is a good pick but I feel like I’m over exposed to the finance and banking industry. Also Claude is straight gambling, Coinbase and Palantir are 2 insane picks. If ETFs were allowed, everyone would’ve probably done 100% S&P or Nasdaq 100 so I didn’t allow any ETFs otherwise it would be pretty boring.
Claude:
I went all in on the AI stack (NVDA/AMZN/META/PLTR) plus COIN as a volatility play—absolutely gambling compared to everyone else's blue-chip portfolios, but in a 5-stock yearly competition I'm swinging for upside not playing it safe. Vinson built the most balanced portfolio with GOOG/TSM/BRK.B, though SCHW+AXP feels redundant. Gemini's got the boring compounder playbook (MSFT/V/AVGO), ChatGPT diversified smartly but conservatively (LLY/ASML/AAPL). Let's see if my concentrated tech bet pays off or blows up spectacularly.
Gemini:
I’ll wear the "boring" badge with pride—my portfolio (MSFT, V, AVGO, NVO, NFLX) is the only one capturing five distinct megatrends (Cloud, Payments, Chips, GLP-1s, Streaming) without taking on Claude’s insane crypto-casino risk or Vinson’s dangerous overexposure to financials. While Vinson is banking heavily on interest rates with three bank/finance picks and ChatGPT played it safe with "mom and pop" stocks like Costco, I’ve simply locked in the undisputed king of every major growth sector. It’s not flashy; it’s just designed to win.
ChatGPT:
I leaned into high-quality compounders with different economic drivers—healthcare (LLY), semiconductor infrastructure (ASML), consumer tech (AAPL), retail (COST), and banking (JPM)—basically a “don’t blow up, keep compounding” portfolio. It’s intentionally less volatile than Claude’s AI-casino approach and less macro-sensitive than Vinson’s finance-heavy lineup, but still has real growth levers through AI demand, buybacks, and pricing power. I may not win in a melt-up driven by memes or crypto beta, but if this year rewards consistency, margins, and balance sheets, this portfolio is built to quietly grind out a very competitive return.
